CODE OF CONDUCT

The Kamrup Metro Weightlifting Association (KMWA) upholds the values of integrity, fairness, and discipline in all its activities. Every member, athlete, coach, and official represents not only the Association but also the spirit of sportsmanship and excellence in Assam.

This Code aims to guide members in maintaining the highest standards of conduct. It is intended to promote trust, respect, and pride within our sporting community. The KMWA expects every individual associated with it to act responsibly and ethically both on and off the field.

General Conduct

All athletes, coaches, and officials shall:

  • Abide by the rules and regulations of the Kamrup Metro Weightlifting Association, Assam Weightlifting Association, and the Indian Weightlifting Federation.

  • Exhibit honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship in every competition, training session, or event.

  • Respect teammates, officials, spectators, and volunteers, regardless of race, religion, gender, or background.

  • Refrain from using offensive language, gestures, or engaging in any form of harassment—verbal, physical, or online.

  • Avoid any conduct that could damage the reputation of the Association or bring the sport into disrepute.

  • Protect Association property and respect the facilities provided during events or training sessions.

Anti-Doping and Fair Play

  • All members must strictly follow the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) rules.

  • No athlete or coach shall possess, use, or distribute any banned or illegal substance.

  • Any athlete found guilty of a doping violation will face immediate suspension and may be permanently barred from representing the Association.

Training and Discipline

  • Athletes must follow the training schedule and coaching plans set by the appointed coaches.

  • Use of mobile phones during training or competition is prohibited.

  • No athlete shall leave the training venue or camp without permission from the coach or camp in-charge.

  • All members must maintain discipline, punctuality, and proper conduct during all Association activities.

  • Alcohol, smoking, or any intoxicant use is strictly banned during camps, competitions, and official events.

Media and Communication

  • Athletes, coaches, and officials must not engage with media or post on social media about Association matters without prior permission from the KMWA Executive Committee.

  • Defamatory or disrespectful remarks made online or in person about any member or the Association will result in disciplinary action.

Conflict of Interest and Integrity

  • Members shall not accept bribes, gifts, or favors that may influence decisions or compromise fairness.

  • Any grievances should be reported in writing to the Executive Committee.

  • No athlete, coach, or member shall file a legal complaint directly without first submitting a written grievance to the Association President.

Attendance and Participation

  • Athletes selected for training camps or competitions must attend as directed by the Association.

  • Absence without valid reason or approval may lead to exclusion from future selections or disciplinary action.

  • Members must cooperate with doping control officers whenever required.

Disciplinary Actions

Violation of this Code may lead to any or all of the following:

  1. Verbal or written warning.

  2. Suspension from training, competition, or official roles.

  3. Removal from team or Association membership.

  4. Withholding of benefits or financial support.

  5. Permanent disqualification in severe cases.

Any member has the right to appeal against disciplinary actions by submitting a written request to the President of Kamrup Metro Weightlifting Association within 15 days of the decision.

Final Declaration

All members, athletes, coaches, and officials of the Kamrup Metro Weightlifting Association are required to sign this Code of Conduct and pledge to uphold its principles. Any violation will be viewed seriously and dealt with as per the disciplinary framework of the Association.
