A significant milestone in the development of sports infrastructure in the district was marked on 11 October 2026 with the formal inauguration of a world-class ELEIKO weightlifting set received from Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL).
The equipment was inaugurated by Sri Bipul Thakuria, Deputy General Manager (Finance), NRL, marking an important step towards strengthening weightlifting facilities and creating better opportunities for aspiring athletes in the district.
ELEIKO is internationally recognised for its high-quality weightlifting equipment, widely used in competitive weightlifting and elite-level training. The availability of such world-class equipment is expected to enhance the training environment for local weightlifters and encourage athletes to pursue their sporting ambitions with greater confidence and dedication.
The contribution from NRL reflects the importance of institutional support in promoting sports and nurturing local talent. Access to quality equipment and improved training facilities can play a vital role in helping athletes develop their technical skills, discipline, strength and competitive abilities.
This achievement also represents a positive step towards building a stronger sporting culture in the district. With improved infrastructure and continued encouragement, young and emerging weightlifters will have greater opportunities to train effectively, prepare for competitions and aspire to perform at higher levels.
The inauguration is more than the addition of new sports equipment; it is an investment in the potential of local athletes and the future of weightlifting in the district. The support extended by NRL is a welcome contribution towards creating an environment where sporting talent can be identified, nurtured and developed.
The arrival of the ELEIKO weightlifting set stands as an important achievement in the ongoing journey of district sports development, bringing renewed encouragement to athletes, coaches and everyone working towards the growth of sports in the region.
